Following on from the success of Brookfields School’s Therapy Dog visit courtesy of our inaugural Acts of Kindness Awards, it was an easy decision to continue these visits on a monthly basis due to the undeniable bond between each child and the therapy dog.
Brookfields is an SEN school and a true gem in our town. ‘To see all of the smiles on the students’ faces was incredible,’ said one attendee, 'it is a beautiful moment to see the connection each person had with [the dog]'.
Sian McCoubrey, a Volunteer of the Foundation, commented, ‘The therapy dog visits are overwhelmingly successful and make a huge difference to the children, who thoroughly enjoy their contact with her, touching her fur and throwing toys to fetch. The dog interacts with the class beautifully and there were many smiling faces, children and adults alike!’
The visits have been ongoing twice a month since March 2019 across two different classes at Brookfields.
